Community Briefs: March 20

Church youth serving chili Friday

ANDERSON — The youth of Maple Grove Church of God, 2729 E. 38th St., will serve a freewill donation chili supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Proceeds will help the youth attend the Church of God’s International Youth Convention this July. Info: 649-6589.

Mainstage auditions Saturday, Sunday

ANDERSON — Anderson’s Mainstage Theatre will have auditions for “Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 10th and Jackson streets.

Performance dates are May 15, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 25. Bill Malone will be the stage director and all casting will be done from auditions. Participants will be asked to read from the script unless they have brought a poem or monologue to present. All participants should be prepared to sing 16-bars and do a simple dance audition. Parts are available for all adult and high school ages.

Armand and Angelina to perform

ANDERSON — The Unity Church of Anderson, 2425 Mounds Road, will present internationally renowned recording artists Armand and Angelina performing their “International Pop Overture” at 7:15 p.m. Friday, March 21. See armandandangelina.org for more details. Refreshments will be provided.

On Saturday, the duo will offer a Native American Flute workshop at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Cost of admission is a love offering. For more information, call 642-4463.

AHS Class of 1954 meets Thursday

ANDERSON — A meeting of AHS 1954 class members is planned fro 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 310 E 53rd St.

The group will begin working on the program for its 60th reunion to be held Oct. 18, 2014.

Fish dinner set for Friday

ANDERSON — An all-you-can-eat fish dinner will be held Friday, March 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the 40&8, 1600 Rangeline Road. The public is invited.

The menu includes Alaskan Pollock, coleslaw, baked beans, green beans, and rolls. The cost is $8 and an additional $2 for just fish. Carry-outs will be available.

ANDERSON—Liberty Christian Elementary School will be hosting their annual Grandparents’ Day on Friday, March 28. Guests may arrive at 12:30 pm for refreshments in the gym. The program will begin at 1:00 pm. Students will perform some special Grandparents’ Day music, and the 5th and 6th grade bands will play as well. Grandparents will be able to visit classrooms. Students may be dismissed with grandparents provided that their parent has given signed permission
