Health center holding enrollment event

ANDERSON — A special enrollment event will be held today from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Madison County Community Health Center, 1547 Ohio Ave., Anderson.

Insurance enrollment specialists will be available from 9 a.m. to noon to offer free consultations regarding applying for Medicaid or applying for assistance through the new Health Insurance Marketplace. No appointment is necessary for consultations at select Madison County Madison County Community Health Center locations.

Final day for open enrollment will be Monday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Newspaper to host blood drive

ANDERSON — The Herald Bulletin, 1133 Jackson St., will host a blood drive on Tuesday, April 1, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Bloodmobile will be parked in the newspaper’s lower parking lot behind the building. Appointments may be made by going to www.donorpoint.org or by calling Tammy Everitt at 648-4242.

Post 266 honoring Vietnam vets

ANDERSON — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will honor Vietnam veterans today.

A ham and bean dinner with cornbread will begin at 4 p.m.

Music will be provided by Jason Emery.

Kean receives NASW Community Partner Award

MUNCIE — Tim Kean, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, received the Community Partner of the Year Award for Region 5 at the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) Indiana Chapter luncheon on March 26 at the Ball State University Alumni Center.

Kean received the award because of his dedication to alleviating hunger and his continuous advocating to group and individuals about this crucial issue. He is involved with the Anderson Rotary Club, past president of the Anderson Breakfast Kiwanis Cub, involved in the World Hunger Task Force as well as participating in mission trips to Eastern Europe.

Lawson announces changes to notary law

INDIANAPOLIS — Secretary of State Connie Lawson applauds the signing of House Enrolled Act 1041 by Governor Mike Pence, giving National Guard officers authority to notarize documents for soldiers preparing for deployment.
