Muncie Tea Party to meet Sept. 23
MUNCIE — The Muncie 9.12 Tea Party will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road.
Attendees are asked to bring their questions and present them to the guest representatives.
Adult Education GED classes offered
ANDERSON — Anderson Community Schools offers adult education classes in GED preparation, English Language, Education Refresher classes for college and careers, and Basic Skills for the 2013-2014 school year. Participants in an adult education or GED class must attend a one-hour orientation and take a three-hour pretest to establish learning levels.
Orientation and pretesting will be at 1600 Hillcrest Ave. The next orientation date is Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. Appointments for the pretest are scheduled only at the orientation. Pretesting date is Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon or 5 to 8 p.m.
GED and Education Refresher classes are offered during the day and in the evening from 4 to 7 p.m. English as a Second Language classes for adults are offered Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Basic Skills classes are offered Monday and Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. If there are any questions about any of these offerings, call 641-2121.
Crime Watch meeting set
ANDERSON — The next South Side Crime Watch District 1 meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at East Lynn Christian Church, 522 E. 53rd St.
Any southside neighborhood resident or interested party is invited to attend. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month through November.
3 people injured in Sunday crash
LAPEL — A two-vehicle accident Sunday hospitalized both drivers and a passenger.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. when a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by David Woods, 68, of Lapel pulled out in front of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee driven by Tyler Ozenbaugh, 25, of Elwood, police said.
According to Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, Ozenbaugh was headed north on Indiana 13 near West County Road 10, and Woods was leaving his residential driveway and attempting to make a left turn to head north. Patricia Woods was a passenger in Woods’ vehicle.
ISP tickets truckers skirting closure
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police are ticketing semitrailer drivers who bypass a closed section of freeway in Indianapolis using city streets.
Sgt. Rich Myers said troopers had issued about two dozen tickets through Monday afternoon to truckers who are using downtown exit ramps and city streets to skirt a section of Interstate 65/70. Restrictions barring the exit ramps to through traffic went into effect on Friday.
