Get involved in 'Help the Poor in Madison County'

ANDERSON — On Saturday, Sept. 28, the St. Vincent de Paul Society will host the annual Friends of the Poor Walk/Run at Highland Middle School, 2108 E. 200N.

The 5K Run begins at 8 a.m. and the Walk is from noon to 2 p.m. "rain or shine." There will be food, entertainment, games and prizes. All proceeds stay in Madison County to help the needy. The goal is $20,000.

There are three additional fundraisers in the community to help with this cause. On Wednesday, Sept. 25, Garfield's Restaurant will pledge 10 percent of all the entree orders from 5 to 9 p.m. as a donation to "Friends of the Poor" Walk/Run.

On Sept. 28, the day of the walk, Buffalo Wild Wings will also donate 10 percent of orders. On Monday, Sept. 30, Orange Leaf will donate 15 percent of all orders to the event.

For further information, contact Becky Hull, 642-9871, rahull@anderson.edu to form walk or run teams, or Kathy Shapiro, 641-7186 kbshapiro1@aol.com to help sponsor the event.
