---- — AHS band participates in Marsh program

ANDERSON -- Anderson High School Band is participating in the Marsh Fresh Ideas for Education Program.

There is no cost to participate, and the band earns money for supplies.

For those having a Marsh card, band boosters can record the number from the back, and then will receive credit. Please call 640-9926, and leave your card number on the message.

Annual Christmas craft show set

ANDERSON -- The Anderson Noon Exchange Club is planning its fifth annual Christmas Gift and Craft Show at the Mounds Mall. The Gift & Craft show will be held Friday through Sunday, Dec. 6-8, during regular mall hours and will feature home-crafted gift items as well as services and products.

Vendors are invited to participate in the three-day holiday sales event. The Christmas Gift & Craft Show benefits the Exchange Club Family Resource Center in Anderson for child abuse prevention.

Antique toy and train show Oct. 5

ALEXANDRIA -- An antique toy and train show will be held Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building in Beulah Park, Indiana 9, Alexandria

Admission is $4 for adults. Children ages 13 to 18 will be $1. Children 12 and under are free and should be accompanied by an adult. Featured will be 110 tables of new and antique trains, all makes and gauges. The types of trains will include Lionel, Marx, American Flyer, Ives and other models. Also featured will be vintage toys, which include cars, trucks, airplanes, wind-ups, cast iron, etc.

Free membership offered to area women

INDIANAPOLIS -- Capital City Chorus, the 10th-ranked Sweet Adelines International Chorus in the world, is offering a free holiday membership to area women interested in singing and performance.

Christmas choir rehearsals will begin Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Church, 5805 E. 56th St., Indianapolis. Weekly rehearsals are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday through the first week of December.

The Christmas Choir will perform as part of Capital City Chorus’ Holiday Harmony 2013 show Sunday, Dec. 8th in the Schrott Center for the Arts at Butler University.

Big Band concert presented Saturday

ANDERSON -- Madison Park Church of God will present Scott Lutterman and The Heartland Big Band “Good Ole’ Gospel Swingin” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Featured will be Heather Beck, The Dave King Quartet, Jon Lambert, Andrew Lyon, The O’Malia Trio, Jennifer Wilson, Steve Williamson and the Heartland Gospel Choir.

Tickets: $10; and children 12 and under, admitted free. Tickets can be purchased at Cross Street Madison Park Church Offices in Anderson; at the door the evening of the concert; or by calling 642-2000.

Spring Valley Quilt Guild celebrates

PENDLETON -- The Oct. 2 meeting of the Spring Valley Quilt Guild will celebrate the success of this year’s Quilts in the Park Quilt Show. The show attracted a record number of visitors this year which helps also support the Pendleton Historical Museum. Members are reminded to return their gift-wrapped secret fat quarter creations for exchange at this meeting. Show and Tell items are always welcome as well.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the Pendleton Community Library on Water Street in Pendleton. Visitors and guests are always welcome at the meetings and are welcome to join the guild as well. Annual dues are $10.
