Genealogy resources topic for class

ANDERSON -- The Genealogy Department of the Madison County Historical Society Inc. is holding a class at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Bowman Room at the History Center, 15 W. 11th St. This class is open to all and will address the general resources available to start your research and more. There is no fee to attend this class.

Allman, DeVoe concert Oct. 22

WABASH — Gregg Allman will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Honeywell Center, 275 W. Market St., Wabash, for his only Indiana stop.

Indianapolis-based blues singer/songer Jennie DeVoe will open the concert.

Tickets are $75, orchestra pit; $44, main floor; and $28, balcony. To acquire tickets, visit the box office from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Civil War Rountable set for Monday

ANDERSON -- Dan Moll will present “A Portrayal Edmund Ruffin” at the 7 p.m. Monday meeting of the Madison County Historical Society Civil War Roundtable. The group meets at the Madison County History Center, 15 W. 11th St.

Ruffin was a wealthy plantation owner and slaveholder, a Confederate soldier, and an 1850s political activist. He advocated states’ rights, secession and slavery and was described by opponents as one of the Fire-Eaters.

Breast health seminar to be held

MUNCIE — Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital’s Breast Center is offering a free breast health seminar from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital South Tower Atrium.

This event will be beneficial for men and women of all ages, a hospital representative said.

K of C to host Halloween Party

ANDERSON — The Knights of Columbus, 1225 Main St., will host its annual Halloween Party for children on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Photos featured at Historical Society

MIDDLETOWN — Local historian Bob Hess will present a program of photographs of Middletown and vicinity at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Middletown Fall Creek Township Historical Society has an archived collection of nearly 5,000 historical photographs of local subjects.
