Exchange honors Volks with award

ANDERSON — The Anderson Noon Exchange Club will present the 45th Annual Book of Golden Deeds Award to Don and Sandy Volk at an awards banquet in their honor today at 6 p.m. at The Edge Golf and Dining. The award recognizes dedicated volunteers who given endless hours of their time and talent toward making their community a better place to live.

National Exchange Club President Don Wright of Murfreesboro, Tenn., will speak about the National Exchange Award and Mark Volk, son of Don and Sandy Volk, will emcee the award dinner. Reservations may be made by calling Bonny Clark at 617-5912.

Server training set in Elwood

ELWOOD — Indiana Safe Server training will take place at the American Legion, 220 Main St., Elwood on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Indiana law requires any person possessing an Indiana Alcohol Server Permit must take this class once every three years.

AHS Veterans Day convocation Nov. 11

ANDERSON — Anderson High School, 4610 S. Madison Ave., Anderson, will hold its annual Veterans Day convocation on Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. to honor veterans and active service military members.

Guest speaker will be Eric Creviston.

Second Harvest Tailgate at Old Plant 18

ANDERSON — Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana will provide food for families in need at a tailgate distribution from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday at the old Plant 18, 2900 S. Scatterfield Road. The event will take place in the parking area on the north side of the building.

The distribution is while supplies last, and there is a limit of three families per vehicle. For traffic control purposes, participants are asked not to line up before 11 a.m. the day of the tailgate.

Prosecutor warns Gibson jury about graphic case

NEW ALBANY — The prosecutor in the first capital murder trial of a southern Indiana man accused of killing three women over a decade says he lured his late mother's best friend to his home and sexually assaulted, strangled and mutilated her.
