---- — Eagles to host benefit for Cheryl Blackwell
ALEXANDRIA — A benefit day for Cheryl Blackwell will be held today at the Alexandria Eagles Aerie 1771. Blackwell's husband, Bruce, was serving as president of the Alexandria Eagles, when he passed away in a motorcycle accident.
A breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. at a cost of $5 per person.
Games will include a cake walk and pie in the eye. Lunch will be available. A silent auction and bingo will also take place.
A cornhole tournament will take place. Cost is $10 and sign-ups are required.
DJ Jim King will entertain from noon to 5 p.m. Dinner will be from 5 to 9 p.m. and include Eagles roast beef sandwiches.
Legion hosting flag program
ANDERSON — The George Hockett American Legion Auxiliary Unit 127 is offering its American Flag Program to schools, church groups, clubs and service groups.
The talk covers the flag's history, flag etiquette, also stories and facts about the National Anthem. Pledge of Allegiance and Taps.
No Welcome Home dinner this month
ANDERSON — There will be no Welcome Home for Veterans program on Friday. Instead The Anderson Church of the Brethren will honor veterans and their families at its 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 15.
Immediately after the service, veterans and their families will be guests of honor at a pitch-in dinner.
The Anderson Church of the Brethren is located at 741 N. Scatterfield Road, Anderson.
Liberty Christian to host special veterans chapel
ANDERSON — Liberty Christian School students, faculty and staff will honor military personnel and veterans at a special chapel to be held on Monday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium of the school's elementary campus at 2025 Hillcrest Ave.
Command Sgt. Major Arthur J. Leak will address the convocation. As a civilian, he is employed by Anderson University, where he is the University Registrar.
Any military personnel, whether on active or reserve duty, and all veterans are invited to attend the ceremony, which is open to the public.
Spaghetti dinner tonight at Post 127
ANDERSON — An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. tonight at the American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave.
Cost is $7.
Proceeds from the event will go to fund a Christmas party for the American Legion Riders Christmas Kids.
