Historical Society plans outing

ANDERSON — On May 10, the Madison County Historical Society is sponsoring a trip to historic Madison in a smoke-free chartered motor coach. The group will depart Anderson at 6:45 a.m. and return around 9 p.m.

Cost is $80 per person, includes doughnuts and juice on the bus, a sit-down buffet dinner, a narrated tour of the Madison Historic District, admission to three Madison museum homes and a tip for the driver. Time will be available for self-guided touring and shopping.

Garden Club meeting slated for Monday

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at the Conservation Building in Falls Park, 520 Falls Park Drive, Pendleton.

The program will be "Small Batch Wine Making," by Anita Johnson of Great Fermentations, and "Home Winemaker," by Jay Edmondson.

Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

MOB registration set for Thursday

ANDERSON — Merchants Older Buddies (MOB) registration will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Park Place Community Center, 802 E. Fifth St., Anderson, (use east entrance).

Registration offers discounts to those 60 years of age and older at various area merchants. There is a one-time fee of $4.

Friends of Library monthly sale begins Friday

ANDERSON — The Friends of the Anderson Public Library sale will be held Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the third floor bookstore at the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th. St.

Featured this month will be Spanish printed books, including children's books and gardening books. They will also be having their special buck-a-bag sale again this month. There will be many cookbooks in this buck-a-bag sale. As always, there will be many biographies, fiction by famous authors, and a large variety of children's books. This sale is open to the public and all proceeds benefit library programs.
