ANDERSON — During May, when Skin Cancer Awareness Month is observed, two skin cancer screenings are being planned on the St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital campus.
Free skin cancer screenings will be conducted Saturday, May 3, at The Cancer Center at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, 2020 Meridian St., by appointment only. Call 608-2677 to schedule an appointment. The screenings will be conducted by dermatologists Mina Swofford, M.D., and Rebecca Bushong, M.D.
Throughout May, dermatologist David Martin, M.D., will be conducting free skin cancer screenings by appointment at his office in Holy Cross Medical Arts, 2101 Jackson St. Call 649-0161 to schedule an appointment.
Screenings are vital in the early detection of skin cancer, which increases the cure rate tremendously. The best prevention of skin cancer is avoiding overexposure to the sun, either through sunblock, increased clothing coverage, or avoiding peak sun hours. Any skin blemishes that change over time should be checked by your physician.
