Local firefighters present check

ANDERSON — On Tuesday evening, members of Anderson Firefighters Local 1262 competed in a rib eating contest against members of the Anderson Police Department at a fundraiser benefiting Alternatives of Madison County at Texas Roadhouse.

Anderson firefighters took home the trophy in a very close race. The Anderson firefighters and Executive Board members Cody Leever and Todd Cawthorn presented Alternatives with a check from the Anderson Firefighters Local 1262 Charity Fund for $500.

Pre-diabetes class Thursday at YMCA

ANDERSON — The Anderson Family YMCA, 12th and Jackson streets, will host a pre-diabetes class on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The class will be presented by Michelle Richart, community educator with St.Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.

Crime Watch to meet Tuesday

ANDERSON — The East Side Crime Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Side Church of God, 2600 E. Fifth St., Anderson.

Participants needed for 4-H Parade

ALEXANDRIA — The Madison County 4-H Fair sponsored by the Alexandria Kiwanis Club is seeking participants for the 4-H Parade to be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 in downtown Alexandria.

All participants will receive a ribbon. There is no entry fee.

This year’s theme is “A Tribute to the Armed Forces.”

ICA to host voucher program presentation

ANDERSON — School Choice Indiana will present a voucher program at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Indiana Christian Academy, 432 W. 300N.

Due to the purpose of the presentation as well as to ensure that parents feel free to ask questions in a comfortable environment, only parents interested in the program should attend.

ANDERSON — The Board of Directors for the Anderson Area Crimestoppers will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Anderson Police Department, 1040 Main St., Anderson.
