Tri Kappa holds 60th state convention

INDIANAPOLIS — The 60th State Convention of Tri Kappa was recently held at the Indianapolis Marriott East.

Representing the Anderson chapter were Phommaly DaVong delegate, and Dawn Carr, alternate.

Others who attended were Denise Miller, Jeanne Justice, Melan Neal, Lynn Payne, Jill McDonald and Kathy Shapiro.

Several business sessions and educational workshops were held during the three-day meeting. The Fine Arts winners from Province Conventions and local residents were Nancy Muething and Denise Miller.

Local resident Lynn Payne was installed as Xi treasurer.

The Anderson Xi Chapter was established in 1904 and has now 40 members. Its projects are making blankets for Riley Children’s Hospital, selling Terri Lynn nuts and hosting zumbathon.

Donations in the local community are made to Madison County Literacy Coalition and the Anderson Young Ballet Theatre.

Bowman to direct foundation outreach

ANDERSON — The South Madison Community Foundation announced a new addition to its staff.

 Tammy Bowman will join the organization as Donor and Community Development Officer.

Bowman is a veteran nonprofit professional, having worked in Madison County organizations since 1997. She has previously worked for the Corporation for Economic Development as a Research Analyst and Development Consultant, for the City of Anderson as Director of Public and Media Relations, and as Program Director of the Madison County Community Foundation.

Her role at the South Madison Community Foundation will utilize skills and knowledge from each of these assignments as she develops growth strategies, marketing plans, and enhanced programming.

Bowman will serve as South Madison Community Foundation’s first Development Officer since its beginning in 1992.

Lisa Floyd, Executive Director, said, “Tammy has a rare skill set and a professional background that has afforded her a unique view of the opportunities for growth within our organization. She has a deep interest and engagement in the work of the Community Foundation and a commitment to serving the community.”

The South Madison Community Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization established to assist donors in meeting their philanthropic interest in producing positive and sustainable change in the South Madison County community of Adams, Fall Creek, Green, and Stony Creek Townships. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and assisted in achieving its mission by committee members and staff.
