Retired ACS secretaries to lunch

ANDERSON — Anderson Community Schools retired secretaries will meet for their monthly luncheon at Monday at MCL Restaurant at Mounds Mall.

The group meets the second Monday of each month.

Youth basketball league begins

ANDERSON -- Youth in Education and Sports (YES) and the city of Anderson Parks & Recreation Department will host the Ike Jackson Youth Basketball League at the Geater Center, 1611 Chase St. Registration is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Area Martin Luther King Commission, 2030 W. 16th St.

The Lil Skeeter League is for children ages 3 to kindergarten and the Biddy league is for children in first and second grades (girls can play a grade down).

Registration fee is $40 per child and $35 for each additional family member. Coaches are also being sought for both leagues.

VMC sponsors vet’s family for Christmas

ANDERSON — Veterans of Madison County, 3607 E. 10th St., will sponsor a disabled veteran and his three children for Christmas.

The club will accept donations, gifts and contributions for this family until Dec. 18.

The children include a 7-year-old girl, a 2-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. Call the club at 642-1722 for sizes and other needs.

Santa Claus to visit Frankton Library

FRANKTON -- Santa Claus will be visiting the Frankton Community Library on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Parents, be sure to bring your cameras.

His visit is being sponsored by the Frankton Lions Club.

Pork chops to be served at Legion

ANDERSON — American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., will have a pork chop dinner on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Price is $8. Carryout meals will be available.

Gifts and Goodies Event Dec. 14

ANDERSON — The seventh annual Holiday Gifts and Goodies Vendor Event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at New Horizons United Methodist Church, 611 E. 53rd St.

More than 50 vendors will be displaying their unique gifts.

From 10 to 11 a.m., WFMS Radio Friends and Neighbors will be broadcasting. Santa Claus will make a stop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.

Christmas Dance set for Dec. 12

ANDERSON — Rangeline Community Center, AARP 1686 and AIMS will host a Christmas Dance at 1405 N. Rangeline Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.

Buddy Patterson will be disc jockey for the dance. The center will offer hot dogs, chips and drinks for sale. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. The dance is open to the public and the proceeds help maintain the Center.

Community breakfast Saturday

DALEVILLE — A community breakfast that benefits the Daleville High School boys basketball team will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Daleville Lions Club, Sixth and Edwards streets.

The all-you-can-eat-breakfast will include eggs and sausage, pancakes, biscuits and sausage gravy, coffee, milk and orange juice for $6 per person. Those under the age of 6 eat free.
