Pearl Harbor program Dec. 7

ANDERSON — VFW Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will host a community Pearl Harbor program at 11 a.m. Saturday. The event is open to the public.

Speakers will be J.R. Rosencrans and former Madison County judge Fredrick Spencer. Ham and beans will be served afterward.

Blood drive Dec. 16 at AU Hartung Hall

ANDERSON — The American Red Cross blood drive will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Anderson University at Hartung Hall, 1100 E. Fifth St.

‘Christmas Journey’ concert at Ball State

MUNCIE — Muncie Symphony Orchestra, along with Broadway singer Emily Drennan and special guest artist Patti Drennan, Ball State University Singers and Department of Theatre and Dance will be in concert at 4 p.m. Saturday at Emens Auditorium.

The “A Christmas Journey,” a classic Broadway show, will feature singing, dancing and holiday songs.

Cookie Walk setat Orestes Church

ORESTES — Orestes First Christian Church, 17 E. Oak St., will host a Cookie Walk from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Cookies will be $5 per dozen and varieties include chocolate chip, sugar, praline, oatmeal, chunky chocolate, stained glass, cowboy, peanut butter, cinnamon roll, elephant, snickerdoodle, monster Reeses Pieces and many more.

The event is being sponsored by the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

BB gun led to campus lockdown

NEW ALBANY — Indiana University Southeast officials say a student bringing a BB gun to use as a prop for a theater class is what led to campus being placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes after a student reported seeing someone on campus with a gun.

University spokeswoman Erica Walsh said the New Albany campus was placed on lockdown at 2:48 p.m. Thursday after a student called campus police saying he saw an armed man on campus.
