Vacation Bible School set for Grandview Church
INGALLS — Grandview Church has announced the dates for 2013 Vacation Bible School for July 8-12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for children pre-K through sixth grade.
This year's theme is "Daniel's Courage in Captivity." Kids will learn that God is with them when things change, when they need help, when they are afraid, when they're lonely and when they are thankful. The weeklong program will be filled with songs, crafts, games, Bible learning, snacks and more.

Pastor's Aide Annual Day set
ANDERSON — Church Upon the Rock is hosting a Pastor's Aide Annual Day on Sunday at 4 p.m. The host is Pastor Anthony D. Harris. Guest speaker will be Pastor Ocie Poole and the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.

Central Christian offers C.A.M.P.
ANDERSON — The annual CAMP (Central Art, Music and Parables) will be in session in July. CAMP is a performing arts/Bible evening camp for children ages 4 through high school. Campers experience the stories, history and feasts of the Jewish nation while learning and rehearsing for a performance of "Fiddler on the Roof Jr." The performance is 7 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Campers also design and construct the set and costumes for the production. The camp is held at Central Christian Church, 923 Jackson St.

St. Matthew holds celebration of freedom
ANDERSON — A special worship service will be offered Sunday at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 1512 N. Madison Ave., at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the freedoms we have as Americans. Remembering those who fought for and defended our freedom throughout the years, the service will feature special music, scriptures and prayers. A trumpet trio consisting of Brice Ancil, Connor Olesky and Demetrius Peoples will accompany the hymns.
A time of fellowship will follow the service in Wesley Hall. Sunday school classes for all ages begin at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
Visitor's Sunday set in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria First United Methodist Church will host a visitor’s Sunday on June 30 with the Rev. Harrison Williams as guest minister.
Harrison was originally from Hazard, Ky. and he will share the heritage of his Baptist background in the coal mining area of his Kentucky home. He will also sing his favorite song, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” accompanied by George Smith on the Shantze pipe organ.
The Sunday service will include a selection of hymns, praise choruses and old upbeat camp songs. Dr. David Steele will lead the morning service. The service will begin at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, where the 100 year-old magnificent stained glass windows add to the spiritual atmosphere of the church. The church is located at 116 West Broadway, across from Cox Super Market.
Mount Pilgrim celebration is Sunday
ANDERSON — On Sunday, Mount Pilgrim Church, 615 Henry St., Anderson, will be celebrating its annual Men's and Women's Day during morning and afternoon services.
The morning worship service festivities will begin with church school at 9:30 a.m. Donuts, coffee and juice are offered at 10:30 a.m. The morning worship begins at 11 a.m.
Sister Lutrille Dixon of New Birth Worship Center will be the featured morning speaker. Special music will be provided by the Angels of Glory of Mount Pilgrim. Dinner will be served at Mount Pilgrim Fellowship Hall immediately following the morning worship.
Special guests for the afternoon celebration beginning at 2 p.m. will be Pastor Earlie Dixon of New Birth Worship Center and his congregation.
Central Christian meeting at Summers Park
ANDERSON — Central Christian Church will move the 10 a.m. worship for Sunday, June 30, to Summers Park. This outdoor setting is located on the west side of Madison Avenue between Cross Street and Hartman Road. Please bring your own seating, such as a lawn chair or blanket. The congregation will have water, sun screen, insect repellent and hand-held fans available. Restrooms are accessible near the worship area.
Bethesda VBS July 9-11
ANDERSON — Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 1611 E 43rd St., will host its Vacation Bible School July 9-11 from 4:45 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. each day. The theme is "Tell it on the Mountain (Where Jesus Christ is Lord)."
Pre-registration will be held at the church from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Transportation will be provided; participants must call the church before 3 p.m. each day before the school begins for transportation service begins
