A time of fellowship will follow the service in Wesley Hall. Sunday school classes for all ages begin at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Visitor's Sunday set in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria First United Methodist Church will host a visitor’s Sunday on June 30 with the Rev. Harrison Williams as guest minister.

Harrison was originally from Hazard, Ky. and he will share the heritage of his Baptist background in the coal mining area of his Kentucky home. He will also sing his favorite song, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” accompanied by George Smith on the Shantze pipe organ.

The Sunday service will include a selection of hymns, praise choruses and old upbeat camp songs. Dr. David Steele will lead the morning service. The service will begin at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, where the 100 year-old magnificent stained glass windows add to the spiritual atmosphere of the church. The church is located at 116 West Broadway, across from Cox Super Market.
