Red Hatters to dine at Cammack Station

YORKTOWN — The July meeting of the WOW Red Hatters of Madison County will be Saturday at Cammack Station in Yorktown. Lunch will be at 11 a.m.

Ice cream social at Epworth UMC

MATTHEWS — Epworth United Methodist Church, 105 W. Eighth St, Matthews, will host its annual Community Ice Cream Social on Sunday, July 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

New this year are activities for kids including a bounce house, face painting, and corn hole games.

Indoor seating will be available. Musical entertainment will be provided by Men of Mercy.

In the event of inclement weather or extreme heat, the event will be in Epworth Hall.

There is no charge for the event, but freewill donations will be accepted for the benefit of community outreaches including food pantry and youth.

Exchange Club meets today at The Edge

EDGEWOOD — The Anderson Noon Exchange Club will meet today at The Edge restaurant. The buffet lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at noon. Guest speaker is Robert Ware, talking about the Pals program.

The Noon Exchange Club is part of a national service club with focus on child abuse prevention, Americanism, youth and community service. Anyone interested in learning more about Exchange is invited to attend.

Fairington collecting school supplies

ANDERSON — This month, the staff and residents of Fairington of Anderson will collect new school supplies to be distributed to needy children through Alternatives Inc.

The public may take donations to the apartment community’s leasing office at 1430 E. 60th St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The apartment community is collecting the following new items: No. 2 pencils, art supplies, backpacks, binders, blunt-tip scissors, calculators, construction paper, chalk, colored pencils, compass, crayons, erasers, facial tissues, folders, glue or glue sticks, hand sanitizer, highlighters, index cards, markers, mechanical pencils, notebooks, spiral notebooks, notebook paper, pencil boxes, pencil sharpeners, pens, poster board, rulers, Scotch tape, writing tablets, watercolor paints and ziploc bags (quart or gallon size).

Community church rummage sale set

ANDERSON — Cornerstone Ministries, 3649 Madison Ave., will host a rummage sale starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday with Sarah Circle of Central Community Chapel and Gethesemane Four Square participating.

Food and drinks will be available.
