Tea party meeting set for Thursday

ALEXANDRIA — The Madison County Tea Party will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Emery Lee Auditorium in Alexandria.

Featured will be television and radio personality Andrew Phipps, political topic "Term Limits." Along with Phipps, there will be selected videos and open mic.

Muncie tea party meets July 14

MUNCIE — The Muncie 9.12 Tea Party will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 14 at the Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road.

Guest speaker will be Dwight Lile discussing Agenda 21 and TIFs (Tax Increment Financing).

Squirrel leaves 4,200 in Indiana with no power

ELKHART — Indiana Michigan Power says a squirrel got into a substation in Elkhart County and knocked out power to 4,200 customers.

The power was knocked out about 12:15 p.m. Monday and as of 6 p.m. 759 customers in Elkhart County remained without power.

4-year-old shot in arm in Indianapolis by child

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police say a 4-year-old has been shot in the arm by another child.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said the 4-year-old is in stable condition at Community North Hospital. Dispatchers said the gun used belonged to a parent, and that the child who was holding the gun when it went off found the weapon inside the home.

State financing $250M for I-69 segment

INDIANAPOLIS — A state agency is preparing $250 million in financing to help a private developer pay for construction of the latest segment of Indiana's Interstate 69 extension.

The developer chosen to build the 21-mile stretch of highway from Bloomington to Martinsville will repay the tax-exempt bonds. Bond documents estimate the total cost of the project at $370 million, with the state paying $80 million up front and making annual payments to I-69 Development Partners for 35 years.

Sand dune survivor honored

MICHIGAN CITY — The Illinois boy who survived being buried under 11 feet of sand last summer at the Indiana Dunes was cheered while riding as a parade grand marshal.
