Parade contest winners announced
ANDERSON — Winners of the City of Anderson Independence Day Parade float contest have been announced.
They are Central Indiana Mothers, first place; Anderson Folklorico Dancers, second place; and Indiana Patriot Guard, third place.
Friends of Mounds to meet Thursday
ANDERSON — The Friends of Mounds State Park will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Nature Center.
There will be a presentation by Deborah Farrell on the White River Heritage Trail. They will learn about Hoosier Homestead Day on July 26, a focus on the Bronnenberg Family. Other items to be discussed are the Butterfly Garden, IMN program and the Friends Shelter House. The public is invited.
Bonus Second Harvest tailgate set
ANDERSON — Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana will provide food for families in need at a tailgate distribution from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the former Kmart (Nichol Ave.) parking lot across the street from Marsh at 2811 Nichol Ave.
The distribution is while supplies last, and there is a limit of three families per vehicle. For traffic control purposes, participants are asked not to line up before 11 a.m.

KWVA to meet on Monday
ANDERSON — The Anderson Tri-County Chapter 308 KWVA (Korean War Veterans Association) will meet on Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the 40 & 8 Lodge, 1500 block on S. Rangeline Road
The program will be presented by Quinton Bell on his trip to France last month for the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. Any veterans of the Korean War or veterans who served in Korea are invited to attend.
