Book sale going on today at APL

ANDERSON — The Friends of the Library will hold its monthly book sale from noon to 4:30 p.m. today in the third floor bookstore of the Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., Anderson.

All proceeds from the sale benefit programs at the Anderson Public Library.

Motorcycle skills testing starts today

ANDERSON — Beginning today and every other Saturday, BMV motorcycle skills testing will take place in the Mounds Mall parking lot beginning at 9 a.m.

No registrations will be taken after 11 a.m.

Cost is $10.

Onward Alliance hosting car wash

ANDERSON — Onward Alliance will sponsor a free car wash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the northeast corner of 29th Street and Madison Avenue, Anderson.

Hot dogs, burgers and more will be available for purchase.

Onward Alliance is a community service group that meets every Saturday morning, at the above location at 100 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend meetings or join Onward Alliance.

AHS Class of ‘53 to gather Monday

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1953 and guests meet for lunch at MCL Cafeteria at Mounds Mall the third Monday of each month.

This month’s meeting will be July 15.

Plant retirees plan breakfast

ANDERSON — Delco Remy Plant 8 and 17 Retirees will have a buffet breakfast in the South Dining Room at Frisch’s Big Boy on North Broadway in Anderson at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

All retirees of these two plants are welcome to attend.

Participants needed for 4-H Parade

ALEXANDRIA — The Madison County 4-H Fair sponsored by the Alexandria Kiwanis Club is seeking participants for the 4-H Parade to be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 in downtown Alexandria.

All participants will receive a ribbon. There is no entry fee.

This year’s theme is “A Tribute to the Armed Forces.”

Gospel music concert tonight in Elwood

ELWOOD — Paul and Trey McQueen will host a gospel concert at 6 p.m. tonight at Callaway Park in Elwood.
