ANDERSON, Ind. — A compilation of community news as published in the Tuesday edition of The Herald Bulletin.

Nursing Home Week celebrated

ANDERSON — Meadowbrooke Rehab & Suites, 1821 Lindberg Road, will celebrate National Nursing Home Week with a ’50s and ’60s celebration from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

There will be a cruise-in with the Piston Poppers and music by disc jockey Francis Simmons. Bird’s BBQ and Big Joe’s Concessions will provide food and there will be entertainment by Gary Messler.

 

Stroke Awareness meeting topic

ANDERSON — Community Hospital stroke program coordinator Lisa Hayes, R.N. will speak at the Anderson Noon Exchange Club on Tuesday, May 14. The luncheon meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. at The Edge Golf and Dining in Edgewood. Hayes will speak on how education, prevention, and prompt treatment of strokes enhance the quality of life for their patients.

The community is invited to attend the luncheon at $10 per person. Reservations should be made by calling Bonny Clark at 617-5912.



Stones tribute group to play in Wabash

WABASH — Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones tribute group, will visit the Honeywell Center in Wabash on Friday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. Now in their 10th year of production with more than 1,600 performances, Satisfaction showcases an authentic cast and costuming.  

Satisfaction will be accompanied on stage by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic to perform hits like “Paint it Black,” “Start Me Up” and “Sympathy for the Devil.”

Tickets are $40 for main floor seating and $25 for balcony seats. Tickets can purchased at the box office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling (260) 563-1102 or by visiting www.honeywellcenter.org.

 

Better Breathers Club available

ANDERSON — The Better Breathers Club is a support group for adults suffering from chronic lung disease, organized through the American Lung Association of Indiana. Club members attend monthly meetings to share experiences, knowledge, ideas and strengths. Meetings include expert speakers, video presentations and roundtable discussions.  

The next Better Breathers meeting will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the Community Anderson Education Center, 1923 N. Madison Ave.. Jerika Hensley, speech pathologist with Community Hospital Anderson, will speak about dysphagia and communication.

Spring luncheon set for Thursday

MIDDLETOWN — The Christian Women’s Fellowship, 146 N. Sixth St., of the Sixth Street Christian Church in Middletown, will present its annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Thursday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The menu includes hot chicken casserole, a variety of salads and a beverage for $7. Carryouts will be available.



AHS Class of 1944 meets Wednesday

ANDERSON — Members of the Anderson High School Class of 1944 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the MCL cafeteria at Mounds Mall. All classmates are welcome.
