Mall to host carnival this weekend

ANDERSON — The North American Midway Entertainment Carnival will be at Mounds Mall starting tonight at 5 to 11 p.m., Friday, 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 11 p.m. They will be set up in the mall parking lot in front of the former Sears building.

This is the same carnival company that will be at the Indiana State Fair next month.

Youth group to hold car wash

ANDERSON — Church Upon The Rock Youth will host a car wash on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 303 E. 29th St., Anderson (down the street from Pay Less at 29th and Main streets). Donations will be accepted. For information call 642-2447.

Homeowner fatally shoots home invader

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say an Indianapolis homeowner has shot and killed a suspected home invader with a history of violent crimes.

Police say 31-year-old Joshua Renick of Indianapolis died at the scene of the shooting early Wednesday on the city’s east side.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired were approached by 28-year-old homeowner Chad Heugel, who directed them inside his residence. There they found Renick lying in a hallway. Detectives suspect the case was a home invasion.

Caravan to retrace Potawatomi march

LOGANSPORT — A caravan of vehicles this fall will mark the 175th anniversary of the Trail of Death that marked the forced removal of Potawatomi Indians from Indiana to Kansas.

The caravan will travel through 26 counties from Indiana to Kansas for the sixth commemoration of the event. The caravan takes place every five years to retrace the path the Potawatomis took. The event began in 1988. This year’s caravan will begin Sept. 23 and run through Sept. 29.

Police: Gunfire at park wounds 2 men

MUNCIE — Two men were wounded in an exchange of gunfire near a Muncie city park’s busy basketball court.
