Welcome Back Weekend at Mounds
ANDERSON — This weekend at Mounds State Park is Welcome Back Weekend and will feature folklore with Tom Franklin, the re-opening of the historic Bronnenberg Home and a Garlic Mustard Pull.
Saturday is free admission for all veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces. On Sunday, admission to the park is free to all.
Historical Society's genealogy class starts Monday
ANDERSON — The Genealogy Department of the Madison County Historical Society is presenting a free class at 1:30 p.m. Monday on general resources for the researcher.
The class will give information on where to look — such as libraries, courthouses and churches — and what to look for in your family research. The class will be held in the Bowman Room of the History Center, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.
Rail crossing work postponed
ANDERSON — CSX has rescheduled replacing the rail crossing south of Anderson on Indiana 109 for May 12.
On that date at 8 a.m., the Indiana Department of Transportation will close Ind. 109 at the CSX tracks just south of Anderson. The closure — at mile marker 19 — could be in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, May 22. A signed detour will route motorists around the closure via U.S. Highway 36, Indiana 9/67 and Interstate 69.
Austin to speak at Harrison commencement
ANDERSON — State Rep. Terri Austin will be the guest speaker at Harrison College's May 9 commencement exercises.
Austin, Democratic Caucus Whip, will speak to the 59 graduates and their families at 6:30 p.m. at Madison Park Church of God, 6607 Providence Drive, Anderson.
