Chickens for Charity at new location

ANDERSON — Anderson Noon Lions Club Diabetic Education Committee will host its Chickens for Charity event at a new location this year. On Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson Town Centre, 12th and Meridian streets, you will be able to purchase 1/2 of a barbecued chicken plus two sides and a drink for $8.

Delivery is available upon request. Make delivery arrangements when purchasing tickets. Call Jean Stiers at 617-0670 or Kevin Crawford at 620-3119 for tickets.

All net proceeds benefits local diabetic education programs.

Open house to honor Joe Thompson

MIDDLETOWN — Tri-County Christian Church will host a retirement open house to honor Joe Thompson for his dedication and commitment to the community.

The open house will be on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the church and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Thompson has taught seventh-grade science at Shenandoah Middle School for the past 38 years. He also coached middle school sports. At the end of the school year, he will be retiring from teaching, getting married and moving to Michigan.

Tri-County Christian Church is at 8660 N. Mechanicsburg Road.

Senior Access group to meet today

ANDERSON — Community Hospital Anderson’s next Senior Access meeting will be today at 3 p.m. at Community Anderson’s Education Center, 1923 N. Madison Ave.

Steve Sumner of Adult Protective Services will address the group to explain his program and how it can benefit the seniors in Madison County.

Refreshments will be served. For more information or to register, call 298-2533.

Eagle Scout ceremony Sunday

MARKLEVILLE — An Eagle Scout ceremony will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in honor of Jacob Walker at East Christian Church.

Walker is a member of Scout Troop No. 232 in Pendleton. He attends Shenandoah High School, where he is a junior. He is the son of Andy and Jennifer Walker of Middletown.
