Lutton honored with Outstanding Senior Award
HUNTINGTON — Holly Lutton of Anderson was honored at the 43rd annual Huntington University Forester Night which celebrated the accomplishments of students from across campus. The event was held May 6.
Lutton, a senior Youth Ministries major, was recognized as the Outstanding Senior Award recipient for ministry and missions. The Outstanding Senior Awards are voted on by faculty. Recipients were presented plaques for their accomplishments at Forester Night.
Finger wins Hoosier Musician Award
ANDERSON — Susan Finger, the artistic director of the Anderson Area Children’s Choir and Youth Chorale, is the recipient of the Indiana Music Educators Association’s prestigious Hoosier Musician Award for 2014.
This award was established by IMEA to give recognition to an individual who has contributed to the advancement of music education in the state of Indiana, and who has contributed outstanding service to local, state or national music organizations.
She retired after 34 years as the director of instrumental and vocal music in Anderson and is currently on the staff at the Ball State Music Education Department. She has served as the conductor of the Indiana Ambassadors of Music choir, the IMEA Middle School Honor Choir, and has been a clinician/guest conductor for Circle the State with Song.
In addition, she is a past president of IMEA, as well as an area representative, and has been conference chair for the statewide Professional Development Conference four times. She also has been a facilitator of IMEA’s non-competitive festivals. Previously, she was named Outstanding Middle School Teacher in Anderson Community Schools and was a finalist for Teacher of the Year in Indiana.
Lechlitner inducted into athletics honor society
HUNTINGTON — Ryan Lechlitner of Pendleton has been inducted into Huntington University's chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society.
This honor society recognizes both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the students.
