Jottings: July 14

Carly Fettig wins equestrian award at William Woods University

FULTON, Mo. — Equestrian students graduating from William Woods University in May received awards in recognition of their accomplishments. Carly Fettig of Elwood, was one of the recipients.

Each year, outstanding graduating seniors are honored in each riding discipline. Fettig was awarded the Saddle Seat Appreciation Award.

McCord competes in national contest

FRANKTON — Macie McCord, the daughter of Brad and Jamie McCord of Frankton, attends Bonnie and Sheri's Dance and Gymnastics under the direction of Bonnie and Sue Heath.

McCord competed at the Midwest Starz's National Dance Competition in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., on June 16. She scored platinum, the highest level, in the Starz mini solo acrobatic dance division, and was awarded fifth place overall in all dance categories.

She also performed in the Grand Nationals opening ceremony after being chosen a Standout Dancer at the Regional competition in Indianapolis in March.

She also performed in Bonnie and Sheri's Dance and Gymnastics annual dance recital on June 24 at the Elwood Middle School.
