Red Hat Chicks to host luncheon

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Red Hat Chicks will meet Aug. 28 at the home of Loraine Whistler, for a carry-in luncheon, at noon.

Single and parenting classes set at Madison Park

ANDERSON — Single and parenting classes will begin Sunday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. at Madison Park Church of God, located at the corner of Columbus Avenue and East 67th Street.

Single parents face unique challenges. Learn tips and parenting wisdom that will help you find rest, hope and encouragement. Solicit advice from other single moms and dads, and pose your own questions about single parenthood. Register at www.SingleandParenting.org or call the church office.

Friends of the Poor Walk/Run is Sept. 28

ANDERSON — On Saturday, Sept. 28, the St. Vincent de Paul Society will host the annual Friends of the Poor Walk/Run at Highland Middle School, 2108 E. 200N, Anderson.

The 5K run begins at 8 a.m. and the walk is from noon to 2 p.m. (rain or shine).

There will be food, entertainment, games and prizes. All proceeds stay in Madison County to help the needy. This year's goal is $20,000. Contact Becky Hull, 642-9871 to form walk or run teams, or Kathy Shapiro, 642-7186 to help sponsor the event.

Parenting seminar to be offered

ANDERSON — Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., a seven-week study on the book "Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline" by Dr. Becky Bailey, will be led by Jenny Spencer of Ignite Learning.

It focuses on self-control and confidence building for parent and child, and will help families move from turmoil to tranquility and find new ways of understanding and improving the behavior of children and parents. The cost is $15 and includes the book. R.S.V.P. to Amber Rodecap, Elementary Coordinator, at (765) 642-2000.
