St. Mary’s part of Ideas for Education

ANDERSON — St. Mary’s School in Anderson is participating in the Marsh Fresh Ideas for Education Program for the 2013-2014 school year.

Marsh has pledged $275,000 in funding to this program, with no cost to participating schools. Help St. Mary’s earn free educational equipment by visiting to register the 12-digit card number on the back of your Marsh card, O’Malia’s card, or MainStreet Market card for the St. Mary’s school code of 28408.

Once a card is registered, each purchase using it will accumulate credits for St. Mary’s School.

Giveaway set for Grandview Church

PENDLETON — Grandview Church, 9064 W. Grandview Blvd., will offer gently used children’s and adult clothing on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at the church. Everything is free to anyone in need.

The church is at the entrance to the Summerlake Community on Indiana 13, just south of Interstate 69, exit 214.

Muncie 9.12 Tea Party to meet Aug. 26

MUNCIE — The Muncie 9.12 Tea Party will meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road.

The subject will be common core school curriculum, by speaker Bill Willcutts, a leader in the Fort Wayne 9.12 Tea Party.

Ind. 38/Pendleton Roundabout closed

PENDLETON — The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close Indiana 38 at the Madison County Road 300 North/Pendleton Roundabout for a week beginning Monday.

The detour includes Indiana 109, U.S. 36 and Indiana 67. Traffic to Pendleton Heights Middle School can access the campus via County Road 300 West from the south.

Construction crews will install light poles and decorative fixtures at the roundabout. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony for the $1.3 million intersection improvement project will be scheduled in early September.

Woman found about 12 hours after crash

ELKHART — State police say troopers tracked cellphone signals to find a woman who was trapped in her SUV in northern Indiana for about 12 hours after going off the road and down an embankment.

Police began looking for Loreena Storer of Elkhart after her husband called about 11 p.m. Thursday to report her missing. Officials were able to track her cellphone signal to near the Elkhart Municipal Airport. Two troopers began searching on foot and found her SUV 30 feet off the road in a wooded area about 1 a.m. Friday.
