Flags half-staff today for fallen officers
INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Mike Pence is directing flags at state facilities across Indiana to be flown at half-staff today in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
The day honors federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.
Tea party meeting set for Thursday
ANDERSON — Tea Party Patriots will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the FOP Lodge, 2614 Mounds Road.
Speakers will be state Rep. Jack Lutz and Matt Modleksi, a former Thunderbird pilot.
US 31 interchange planned at Ind. 28
TIPTON — The Indiana Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced plans to build a new U.S. 31 interchange at State Road 28 near the future Chrysler Tipton Transmission Plant.
In late February, Gov. Mike Pence and Chrysler Group executives announced plans to invest $162 million in the former Getrag facility at the northeast corner of U.S. 31 and Indiana 28 in Tipton County.
Spring ride and cookout Saturday
ANDERSON — The Moonsville Conservation Club, 3559 E. 600N, will host a spring ride and cookout at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18 (weather permitting).
The cost of $5 to ride will be used to defray premiums for insurance needed to put on the 50th Annual Horse/Fun Show.
A map of the route will be posted on the front door of the club.

VFW to host dinner for Senkowski
ANDERSON — VFW Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., is helping to raise funds to build a new house for Wounded Warrior Tim Senkowski.
The post will host a dinner tonight from 4:30 to 7. Dinner will cost $7 and will include chicken, potato O’Brien, green beans and salad.
2 men charged for bank heist
INDIANAPOLIS — Prosecutors have filed federal charges against two Indianapolis residents in connection with a bank robbery in which FBI agents fatally shot a third person.
Charges of armed bank robbery and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence were filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court against 24-year-old Demetrius Worley and 44-year-old Lori Armstrong, both of Indianapolis.
Ex-FBI agent cops child porn plea
INDIANAPOLIS — A former FBI agent who was involved in the investigations of the Oklahoma City bombing and “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski has petitioned to plead guilty to charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.
U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett said Tuesday that 54-year-old Donald J. Sachtleben of Carmel has struck a plea agreement under which he also would pay $20,000 in restitution to the victim portrayed in the materials he allegedly possessed.
