---- — FHD to host Golf Cart Poker Run

FRANKTON -- Frankton Heritage Days will host a Golf Cart Poker Run as a pre-festival event on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the poker run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Frankton Heritage House. The cost is $20 per hand and a $5 gift certificate for Pennsylvania Pizza. The top three hands will receive cash prizes, $175 for first place; $75, second place; and $50, third place.

Genealogy class begins Sept. 9

ANDERSON — The Genealogy Department of the Madison County Historical Society will host a beginning genealogy class on Monday, Sept. 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bowman Room at the History Center, 15 W. 11th St.

This class will address ways to start research, what forms and records to use, terminology used by genealogist and more. There is no fee to attend this class. For more information or to RSVP, call 683-0052.

AHS class of ‘48 meets for breakfast

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1948 will meet at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at Rigo’s at Grandview on Friday.

Pancake breakfast served on Saturday

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Men’s Service Club, 204 E. Berry St., will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast (which includes pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and juice) from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Miriam Project’s run will be Sept. 14

ANDERSON — The Miriam Project Adoption Services’ annual 5K walk/run and 10K run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 8:30 a.m. at 1400 Broadway. The run follows Shadyside Park trails.

This yearly fundraiser helps support the continued efforts of the Miriam Project to provide adoption services at no cost to expectant mothers, and at a low-cost for adoptive families. Pre-registration for the race is $20 for adults (which includes a T-shirt) or $10. The deadline for pre-registration is Sept. 6. Race-day registration will be also be available at 7:45 a.m. on the day of the race for $25.

Lions Club to host breakfast

DALEVILLE — The Lions Club, Sixth and Edwards streets, will host an all-you-can-eat community breakfast on Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The cost is $6 for adults and children under the age of 6 eat free. The menu includes eggs and sausage, pancakes, biscuits and sausage gravy, coffee, milk and orange juice. Proceeds benefit the Daleville High School basketball team.

‘Walk With a Doc’ set for Saturday

ANDERSON -- The Madison County Health Partners will host “Walk With a Doc” led by Dr. Charles Purdy at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The first 50 walkers will get a free wet/dry shirt and a pedometer. Walkers need to meet at the main entrance of Shadyside Park at the Bait Shop (on Alexandria Pike).
