CASA seeks award nominations

ANDERSON — East Central Indiana CASA is soliciting nominations for the 2013 Judge Jack L. Brinkman Child Advocate Award.

Nominations are sought from both Hancock and Madison counties. CASA is looking for individuals, departments or organizations to honor for outstanding service, leadership and dedication to the children in East Central Indiana. One winner will be selected from each county to receive the 2013 honor.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday.

Veterans group to meet Monday

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexander Bright Post 87 will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Alexandria Service Club, 204 E. Berry St.

A meal will be served at 6 p.m. Reservations may be made by calling Norm Parr, post adjutant, by Sunday at 724-3472.

The 2014 dues are now due and will be accepted at the meeting.

Library roof repairs on board’s agenda

ELWOOD — Roof inspection and declaration of emergency are listed on the agenda for a special meeting called by the North Madison County Public Library System board.

The board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Monday at the Elwood Public Library.

Restaurant grand opening set for today

ANDERSON — Rebecca’s Soul Food Diner, 903 Madison Ave., will host its grand opening from noon to 6 p.m. today.

Developers seek to reuse football hall

SOUTH BEND — Four developers have submitted offers for re-purposing the former College Football Hall of Fame building in downtown South Bend.

Wednesday was the deadline for the proposals, which city officials aren’t yet releasing any details about.

Scott Ford, the city’s executive director of community investment, said he was pleased with the responses for the future of the 52,000-square-foot building, which is owned by the city.

Two killed in Fort Wayne shooting

FORT WAYNE — Two people were killed and a third is in good condition after a shooting Wednesday evening in Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne Police report that they were dispatched to a shooting and found two male victims in critical condition and a female victim in good condition.
