#GivingTuesday a call to action

The Herald Bulletin

---- — ANDERSON — United Way Madison County is joining #GivingTuesday to inspire people to take action to improve their communities and give back to help create a better world for everyone.

This Tuesday, #GivingTuesday will once again leverage social media to create a national movement dedicated to giving, just as Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been positioned to be synonymous with holiday shopping.

“We can all do something to make Madison County stronger and more successful, to create the kind of community we all want to live in,” said Kim Williams, of the United Way of Madison County.

#GivingTuesday began last year, harnessing the collective power of its partners — nonprofits, businesses and individuals — to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in giving.

“#GivingTuesday is a counter narrative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday because it reminds us that the spirit of the holiday giving season should be about community and not just consumerism,” said Kathy Calvin, CEO of the UN Foundation.
