---- — First Presbyterian to hold Advent services

ANDERSON — First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Ninth St., will celebrate the third Sunday in Advent at its 8 and 10:20 a.m. services.

The Chancel Bells will be ringing the first hymn, "O Come, All Ye Faithful," and the Badgley family will be presenting the Advent Service Reading and lighting of the third candle. Pastor Ryan Rasmussen will be giving the message on Matthew 11:2-11, and the Chancel Choir will sing Advent Peace Canon.

The annual Handbell/Dessert concert will follow in the afternoon. Dessert will be served at 2 p.m. in Fellowship Hall, with the concert following at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Monroe Fellowship hosts revival

ALEXANDRIA — Monroe Fellowship Chapel, 1308 W. Monroe St., will host a revival Dec. 9-15 at 6 p.m. nightly.

Pastors preaching will include Skip Mohler, Paul Featherstone, Robert and Janet Clausen and David Teague III.

Host pastor is Randy Weaver.

Glad Tidings presents Christmas musical

ANDERSON — The GT’s Choir of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 815 School St., will present “Bethlehem Morning along with Kids Choir with Shepherds, Sheep and a Savior!" this weekend.

The children are really excited to be part of the adult choir’s musical. The children’s main characters will be Suzi Bivens, Hannah Flatt, Maverick Fogle, Madisen Myers and Parker Rodgers.

The Christmas musical will be presented Saturday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10:30 a.m. directed by Lou Shelton. This powerful musical is a time to celebrate the birth of Christ our King.

Also, this will be the church's fourth year for the lighting of the luminaries. Prior to the Christmas musical production the attendees will be welcomed by the luminaries surrounding the church area. There will be a hospitality time with cookies and punch after the Saturday night program.

Senior Pastor Jamey Moore extends an invitation to everyone.

Chalk drawings highlight Christmas program

ANDERSON — Redeemer Baptist Church Adult Choir will present "A Sidewalk Christmas" at 7 p.m. Sunday. This program is an original compilation of Christmas songs and will feature the chalk drawings of Christina Bowen.

Each panel of the “sidewalk drawings” will be highlighted as the Adult Choir and soloists sing and as the Bell Choir plays. A hidden surprise will be revealed in the “sidewalk” at the end of the program. The event, under the direction of Pat Storm, includes some new Christmas songs plus many old familiar ones.

A nursery is provided for this free program that is open to the general public.

Redeemer Baptist Church (SBC), 3230 Lindberg Road, is located on the corner of Lindberg and Rangeline roads. The Rev. Brad Storm is the pastor. Call 642-3610 for more information.

Choirs team up for Christmas concert

ANDERSON — The combined choirs of Sixth Street Christian Church, Middletown, and East Lynn Christian Church, Anderson, will present "This Child," a Christmas concert, at 4 p.m. Sunday at East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St., Anderson.

The concert is a collection of choral Christmas music that includes familiar carols. Directors will be Susan Smith and Susie Cameron.

Accompanists are: Dawn Elston and John Doty, piano; Levi Thompson, percussion; and James Middleton, saxophone. The concert will be narrated by Laura Gordon and Tom Cameron.

A finger food pitch-in will follow the concert.

Trinity Episcopal sets Christmas Eve services

ANDERSON — Trinity Episcopal Church, 1030 Brown-Delaware St., announces its Christmas Eve schedule.

A children’s party will be conducted Dec. 24 at 3:30 p.m. It is open to the public and will include light refreshments, storytelling, singing, games and crafts. Children will have an opportunity to visit and have a free photo taken with St. Nicholas. Children and their families will be invited to the family-oriented Christmas Eve service starting at 5 p.m. The service will include carols, a child-friendly recounting of the Christmas story, and Holy Eucharist.

The late-night Christmas Eve service will begin at 10:30 p.m. with special musical arrangements for choir and organ. The Christmas Liturgy begins at 11 p.m. Leading the services will be the Rt. Rev. Bill Smalley.

There will not be a Christmas Day service.
