Carrell receives wound care certification

ANDERSON — Drew Carrel, M.D., has received certification as a wound care specialist after recently completing a rigorous course of study in the most up-to-date and evidence-based wound care.

In addition to his orthopedic surgical practice, Dr. Carrel has joined the Wound Center at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital as it medical director. A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Carrel completed his internship at Marion County General Hospital in Indianapolis and his residency at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

“Dr. Carrel has dealt with the surgical care of wounds for many years,” said Joni Breeden, director of Rehabilitation at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. “As the medical director of The Wound Center, he is available to follow patients who don’t have their own primary care provider. He also facilitates referrals to other specialists, such as bringing in peripheral vascular specialists when there are circulation issues.”
