ANDERSON, Ind. — A compilation of community news briefs, as published in the Sunday edition of The Herald Bulletin.

Pet nail, microchip clinic planned

ANDERSON — The Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal St., will conduct its monthly nail and microchip clinic and heartworm testing from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the shelter.

The cost is $5 for a nail trim, $10 for the heartworm test and $20 for microchipping. No appointment is necessary. Pets must be on a leash.

Quilters Guild show is May 17-18

MUNCIE — The Muncie Quilters Guild will host its 2013 Quilt Show May 17-18 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 2700 W. Moore Road, Muncie.

Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday’s are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $3 per person with children under 12 admitted free.

Featured will be two quilt challenges, quilts of valor, vendors and baby quilts.

AHS Class of ’53 meets for lunch

ANDERSON — The Anderson High School Class of 1953 and guests meet for lunch at MCL Cafeteria at Mounds Mall at 11:30 a.m. the third Monday of each month. This month’s meeting will be May 20.

TN group to host meeting Saturday

ANDERSON — The Trigeminal Neuralgia Association Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. Speaker will be CVS pharmacist Tammy Hersberger. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the various mediations used in the treatment of TN and how it affects the body. TN is a disorder of the trigeminal nerve that causes an intense, stabbing electric shock-like pain in the face.

Group meetings are held at 10 a.m. bimonthly on the third Saturday of May, July, September and November.

All meetings are at the Trinity Life Center, 5900 Ind. 13 South, Pendleton.

Community Hospital offers free screenings

ANDERSON — Community Hospital Anderson will offer free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure screenings on Wednesday, May 15, at Park Place Community Center, 802 E. Fifth St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on a walk-in basis. For more information, call 298-1702.

Canning workshop set for Minnetrista

MUNCIE — Stir up a tangy summer creation at Minnetrista Canning Workshop: Cranberry Pineapple Freezer Jam on May 21.

The workshop is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Register by Friday. Cost is $25.

Indiana native plant sale on Saturday

ANDERSON — Join the Friends of Mounds State Park for the sixth annual fundraiser plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Visitor Center.

These are Indiana native plants and wildflowers that were grown from seeds harvested from the butterfly garden at Mounds. Native plants and wildflowers can be planted in less than perfect soils. Plants range in price from $1-$7, and there are at least 20 different plant species.
