Free dentistry day Sept. 21

ANDERSON — The dentists at Anderson Family Dental — Drs. Mary Feekart, Raymond Lee, Devanshu Chowdhary, Priti Rana and team — will provide free dental services (cleanings, fillings and extractions) for those who may not otherwise receive basic dental care. This event will be Saturday, Sept. 21, at the dental office, 777 Broadway, Suite B in Anderson.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and patients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis.

United Way kickoff event Sept. 17

ANDERSON — The community is invited to help launch this year’s United Way campaign by lending your talent and enthusiasm to United Way of Madison County’s 2013 “Be the ONE” campaign kickoff and video shoot event. The kickoff, hosted by Anderson Rotary, will take place Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Town Center Park, across from The Paramount Theatre.

Park supporters to meet Thursday

ANDERSON — The Friends of Mounds State Park will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Multipurpose Room in the Nature Center.

They will discuss various projects and programs scheduled this fall. The public is invited.

Railroad cross repairs continue

ANDERSON — Reconstruction of railroad crossings throughout town will continue this week.

West Third Street, which just reopened on Friday after completion of a major Water Pollution Control Department project, will be closed today and Wednesday while Norfolk Southern workers repair the railroad crossing at John Street.

Also today, CSX Corp. will close the grade crossing at Columbus and Ohio avenues from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for repairs, city officials said.

Produce giveaways in Madison County

ANDERSON — Produce giveaways sponsored by the Madison County Community Health Center will take place this week.

The first is planned today, from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m., at 1547 Ohio Ave., Anderson, and from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1518 Main St., Elwood.
