Local Briefs: Sept. 19

Three Amigos car shows scheduled

FRANKTON — The Three Amigos will host two car shows over the weekend.

On Saturday in downtown Frankton, during Frankton Heritage Days, a show will be from noon to 3 p.m., with awards being presented at 4:30 p.m. Fee is $10 per car or motorcycle. On Sunday, the Chesterfield Dairy Queen will host a car show from noon to 5 p.m. Cost is $10 per car. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m.

During both shows, music will be provided by DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Library to offer Microsoft classes

ANDERSON — The Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., will offer two free computer classes on Microsoft Access on Saturday, Sept. 28.

“Database Basics” will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon, and “Beyond the Basics” will be offered from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is recommended before attending. Class size is limited.

Jones-Burris to address clubs

ANDERSON — The Kiwanis/Lions clubs program speaker today will be Gayle Jones-Burris, executive director of the Paramount Theatre and Hardacre Ballroom. She will give an update about the facility and coming events.

Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the program starting at 12:20 p.m. Cost for lunch is $7. The public is invited. The clubs meet at First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St. Free parking is available behind the church.

Tree sale set for Saturday

ANDERSON — The Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District, 182 W. 300N will conduct a tree sale 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Potted evergreens, deciduous trees and fruit trees will be offered. Kentucky Coffeetree, Northern Pecan, Persimmon, Paw Paw and eight different types of Indiana Native Oaks will also be available.

Prices are $10 and up. Information: 644-4249, ext. 3.

Festival parade set for Saturday

FRANKTON — The Frankton Heritage Days parade will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at Frankton Elementary School.
