Police search Shadyside Lake

ANDERSON — Indiana State Police again searched Shadyside Lake on Thursday looking for evidence used in a crime. It is at least the second time in three weeks that a search has been conducted with divers.

Florida vet is guest on 'Critter Conversations'

ANDERSON — "Critter Conversations with Animal Lover Jan" will have Lynn Peck, DVM, on her show at 9 a.m. Saturday on 1240 WHBU.

Peck, a world-renowned holistic veterinarian, is from Gainesville, Fla., and will discuss how and why to detoxify the home for pets and humans. She will talk about products that are safe and green to detox the entire house and how to effectively cut down on germs and air-borne pathogens preventing costly vet bills and long-term health issues.

Writing seminar set for Saturday

ANDERSON — Interested in writing? Want to improve? Writers Ink of Central Indiana, a local, well-established group, will host a free two-hour presentation to help kick-start your literary career.

The seminar will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Carnegie Room at Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St. Refreshments will be served.

DNR celebrates Public Lands Day

INDIANAPOLIS — The Department of Natural Resources will recognize current and former military members, encourage volunteerism and offer nature activities as part of National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28.

Active-duty military personnel and veterans can enter Indiana state park and reservoir properties and Deam and Starve Hollow state recreation areas for free on that day only. The free admission extends to anyone in the same vehicle. Active duty military personnel and veterans should show military ID, a V.A. card or Disabled Hoosier Veteran license plate, an Indiana veteran's driver's license or discharge papers with accompanying state photo ID.

Sept. 29 only, state parks and reservoirs and Deam and Starve Hollow SRAs are offering free gate admission to Indiana state employees. Indiana state employees should show their employee ID badge or a paycheck and other form of photo ID.
