Library to host 'Job Hunting 101'
ANDERSON — Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., will host a series of free workshops on Monday on the basics of finding, applying for, and landing the job of your dreams.
Shawn Neal of Anderson Creative Solutions will present on three topics: finding jobs online at 5 p.m., resume creation at 6 p.m. and interview success at 7 p.m. Come to one or all of the workshops to learn the skills you’ll need to further your career. For information, call 641-2456.
Driver safety program for senior citizens
ANDERSON — A driver safety program presented by Community Hospital Anderson will be held on Friday, Oct. 4 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Taught in a classroom at Community Anderson’s Education Center, 1923 N. Madison Ave., Anderson, the course is designed to give seniors the confidence and skills to stay safe behind the wheel. This course is recommended for all senior citizens and covers new traffic laws and updated driving information. The course fee is minimal, and many insurance companies offer discounts for completing.

First 'Women's Day' planned at store
ANDERSON — Good's Candy Shop is holding its first-ever "Women's Day" this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
The first 100 women will receive a free eight-piece box of chocolates. Free samples of chocolates, a chance to win a $100 women's chocolate basket and other prizes are available to all women 21 years of age and over.
Library offers free computer classes

— Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m., Database Basics: Microsoft Access 2010 — This introduction to Microsoft Access 2010 will cover basic concepts including how to plan, design, and create databases and tables. Basic computing skills are required for this session.
— Saturday, Sept. 28, 1:30 p.m., Beyond the Basics: Microsoft Access 2010 — Dig deeper into Microsoft Access 2010 and learn how to create forms and reports, as well as how to create and use queries. Basic computing skills are required for this session. Attending “Database Basics” is strongly recommended before attending this session.
Kokomo 8th fastest-growing economy in 2012
KOKOMO — The Kokomo metropolitan area had one of the fastest-growing economies in the nation in 2012, according to new data released by the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis. Kokomo’s economic grew 8.4 percent last year, making it third in the state and eighth in the nation.
Last year saw a spate of new announcements and investments from Kokomo’s manufacturing community. For example, Chrysler continued to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in new manufacturing equipment; Haynes International announced a $23.5 million investment to expand its manufacturing capacity; Carney Echelbarger relocated to Kokomo and invested $700,000 in its new facility; and EAC Corp relocated to Kokomo and invested more than $200,000 in new equipment. Additionally, Kokomo’s jobs increased by 1,400 from 2011 to 2012.
