'Bully' movie follows dinner, discussion

ANDERSON — Parents, educators and teenagers are invited to watch and discuss the documentary “Bully” at Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The free film tackles the tough subject of peer-to-peer bullying in school systems. Pizza will be provided at no charge. Registration: 641-2456 or www.andersonlibrary.net/events.

Vendor space available for fall sale

MARKLEVILLE — The Markleville Park Fall Sale will held on Friday and Saturday. Proceeds will go toward maintenance of the park.

A 12-foot-by-12-foot space is $10. Reservations: Betty Weist, 623-3553.

NAMI to host October meetings

ANDERSON — The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Madison County Support and Education Meetings will hold several meetings this month.

All meetings and support groups are free and open to the public. Family Support Group offers information, advocacy and support for friends and family members. Meetings are at Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., Redbud Room, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today and Oct. 17. The contact is Larry Wiesenauer, 387-0396.

The Connection Recovery Support Group for Consumers meeting set for Saturday is canceled due to NAMI Indiana State Conference. The next meeting is Oct. 19 at Anderson Public Library. The contact is Karen Barnard, (606) 362-5744.

YMCA offers lifeguard certification class

ANDERSON — The Anderson Family YMCA, 12th and Jackson streets, is offering American Red Cross lifeguard classes for those ages 15 and older.

The class is conducted from 5:30 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. this Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and next weekend, Oct. 11-13. Participants must attend all sessions to become certified. Fees are $150 for YMCA members and $185 for nonmembers. Registration: online at www.ymcamadco.org or 644-7796, ext. 238.

Lowe to serve as Lions guest speaker

ANDERSON — The Anderson Noon Lions Club will meet the first and third Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the lower level of First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St. Lunch is at 11:30 for $7 and the program is at 12:20 p.m.
