Myers will hold groundbreaking

ANDERSON — Myers Autoworld will hold a groundbreaking at its new site today at 4 pm.

Myers Autoworld officials, Mayor Kevin Smith and community leaders will be on hand at the development site at 2901-2903 Scatterfield Road, a former General Motors plant site.

Humane Society reopens for limited business

ANDERSON — The Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal St., reopened Monday for limited business. The office and the outside kennel area are the only areas currently open to the public.

At this time the only volunteers needed are dog walkers. Volunteers are still not allowed access to the outside shelter building.

Fresh produce giveaway in Elwood

ELWOOD — The Madison County Community Health Center in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank will launch a fresh produce giveaway in Elwood at the Northern Madison County Community Health Center, 1518 Main St., today from 2 to 4 p.m.

The produce is at no cost to the public. There will also be blood pressure checks and other services offered at the site. Residents are asked to limit one quantity of produce per household. For more information, call Kimberly Townsend at 617-0059.

Legion to host new program for veterans

ANDERSON — American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave., is hosting a new program at 3 p.m. Wednesday for veterans who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or any other issues from their service.

Dr. David Tarr, who has 35 years as a counselor with the VA, will preside over the program to help veterans.

The program is free and you do not have to be a member of the post.

Crime Watch meeting set for tonight

ANDERSON — The East Side Crime Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at East Side Church of God.

Welcomed areas are North Anderson, Park Place and Highland Heights.
