County tournament ready to go, again

ANDERSON, Ind. — Tonight the Madison County Basketball Tournament was scheduled to begin at four sites with girls/boys double-headers, but those plans have changed one more time.

Tuesday afternoon the county athletic directors decided to move the opening of the tourney back yet again due to the still treacherous road conditions.

The schedule, barring any more deviations, will be as follows:

On Thursday, Pendleton Heights at Anderson, Alexandria at Liberty Christian, Elwood at Frankton and Anderson Preparatory Academy at Lapel. At each site the girls game is scheduled at 6 with the boys game to follow. At Lapel it will be a boys game only at about 7:30 as APA has no girls team.

On Friday, games will be played at three sites.

For the girls, the two winners’ bracket semifinal games will be played at Elwood beginning at 6 p.m. The winners at Anderson and Liberty Christian will play in the first game, followed by the second game, pitting the winner at Frankton taking on Lapel.

For the boys, the sites are dependent upon who wins the game Thursday between Anderson and Pendleton Heights. The winner of that game will host the winners’ bracket semifinals beginning at 6 p.m. That opening game will be between the winner of the games at Anderson and at Liberty, followed by a game between the winners at Lapel and Frankton.

The boys will play four games on Saturday starting at 11 a.m., with the title game scheduled for 5 p.m. The girls will play on Monday to decide the title at Elwood. The site of the boys games will depend on who wins the boys game Thursday between Anderson and Pendleton Heights.

On Monday, the third-and fifth-place games will be played at 6 p.m. The fifth-place game will take place in the middle school gym and the third-place game at the high school. The title game will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday.
