Jets roll to big win on senior night

ANDERSON, Ind. — It didn’t take long for Anderson Prep to take control Friday night at Denny Field against Indianapolis Tindley as D’Andre Patterson took the opening kickoff 90 yards to pay dirt.

Patterson also took a first-quarter punt return 35 yards to the house, and quarterback Triston Anderson snuck in a 3-yard score between the Patterson scores to jump out to a 22-0 lead on the way to a 42-14 win for the Jets (3-5).

Tindley (2-6) got its two scores in the second and third quarters to make things interesting at 22-14 before Anderson Prep tacked on 20 more points in the fourth quarter.

Jets coach Joe Kwisz said, despite the fact Patterson has been injured most of the season, he is a special talent that can turn a game around every time he touches the ball.

“D’Andre, he’s a playmaker. He’s one of many playmakers we have,” said the coach. “He’s a special kid. He’s been battling a leg injury all year. So he only got a couple of carries before he went out. He could’ve come back in the last quarter, but with one week left, he’s a senior, we’d like to see him have a big week next week.

“He’s a guy, we’re blessed with running backs, we talk every week. We have four guys that can run the rock, but D’Andre is a different kind of running back to where he can make some big plays happen spur of the moment.”

Kwisz said with this being senior week, his seniors had a players-only meeting.  Although he doesn’t necessarily know what was said, he felt like they played with more pride this week than in weeks past.

Sophomore twins quarterback Triston Anderson and receiver Jake Anderson connected with each other in the opening 10 seconds of the fourth quarter for a 47-yard touchdown strike, and their coach felt it was a good sign of the talent they posses for the future.
