ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson University baseball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Earlham College 5-4 on Friday at Don Brandon Field.

The three-game series was moved to Anderson for the weekend after Earlham’s field was unplayable due to weather conditions.

Dan Schmitz took the loss, allowing six hits and one earned run in eight innings while striking out a career-high 13 batters with three walks.

Ryan McPike led the Ravens offense with three hits and an RBI and was intentionally walked in the eighth inning with the go-ahead run on third base.

Connor Morris had two hits and two RBIs, and Jacob Barnes added a sacrifice fly.

The Ravens were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position in the game while the Quakers were 3-for-9, including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth with two outs.

AU (10-15, 6-6 HCAC) hosts Earlham in a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
