Dan Patch lights up Hoosier Park Saturday night

ANDERSON, Ind. — Hoosier Park will feature the 20th edition of the $200,000 Dan Patch invitational Standardbred race on Saturday.

Tagged as “Thrillyard 200”, the evening full of extreme racing, free fireworks and giveaways has become Indiana’s signature harness racing event.

The ‘extreme’ theme will take center stage on the track as 10 of North America’s fastest standardbreds go to post for the Dan Patch. In what may be the most competitive field ever assembled, the event will highlight the 14-race program.

The 2013 field includes four millionaires, two sire stakes champions, and one hall of fame driver.

A Rocknroll Dance, Up The Credit, Bolt The Duer, and Aracache Hanover will make their way to Indiana boasting career earnings over the $1 million mark.

Harness racing’s all-time leading money-winning driver and Hall of Famer, John Campbell, will make his way to Hoosier Park and has been enlisted to drive a Rocknroll Dance from post No. 8. Hurrikane Kingcole, with Brett Miller at the lines, has been enlisted as the 3-1 morning line favorite from post No. 1.

The evening will also be complimented by several divisions of the Indiana Gold Sire Stakes for 3-year-old pacing colts sending the purse money to be distributed throughout the evening over the $430,000 mark.

Racing fans will have the opportunity to participate in two special wagers offered for the Dan Patch Invitational, which is slated as the 11th race of the night and has an estimated post time of 9:30 p.m.

A $25,000 guaranteed superfecta pool will be available as part of the special Strategic Wagering Program. The wager will have a minimum bet of 10 cents, and is available through the cooperative efforts of the United States Trotting Association, Hoosier Park and the Indiana Standardbred Association. A $10,000 guaranteed pick-4 will also be made available to racing fans in races 8 through 11.

In conjunction with the racing action taking place on the track, Hoosier Park will be filled with activities off the track as well. Guests will have the opportunity to take a helicopter ride around Hoosier Park’s oval for $10 along with free ‘extreme’ interactive family fun games such as a bungee trampoline jump, zipline and hot-air balloon rides.

A free fireworks presentation following all the activities on and off the track will the finale. Live Racing begins at its regularly scheduled post time of 5:30 p.m.
