AU men, women split basketball games

Women win, men lose in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Anderson University men’s basketball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Mt. St. Joseph 63-59 on Saturday at the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After trailing by five points at the half and most of the second half, Phil Hogan scored 12 straight AU points to give the Ravens their first lead of the game at 53-48 with five minutes left in the contest. The Lions reclaimed the lead at 58-56 and never trailed the rest of the way. AU cut the deficit to 59-57 with 19 seconds left, but missed a pair of game-tying free throws.

Hogan led the Ravens with 19 points.

AU (3-3, 1-2 HCAC) hosts Spalding on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Women’s Basketball

Anderson 62,

Mount St. Joe 59

The Anderson University women’s basketball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mt. St. Joseph 62-59 on Saturday at the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ashley Wuestefeld led the Ravens with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists, hitting 8-of-15 field goals, including a 3-pointer.

Amy Wuestefeld finished with a double-double, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ricci Snell was also in double figures with 11 points and seven rebounds.

AU (1-6, 1-2 HCAC) travels to Earlham next Saturday at 1 p.m.
