FRANKTON — Frankton and Wapahani will have to wait at least one more day to determine the champion of their Class 2A baseball sectional.
Monday's game was postponed because of heavy rain and lightning before the first pitch was thrown. The teams will try again Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The host Eagles defeated the second-ranked Raiders 3-2 during a regular-season game on May 5, and the rematch has been slated since Thursday's semifinals. Wapahani (25-4) advanced with a 7-1 victory against Lapel, and Frankton (16-9) moved on with a 12-2 decision against Winchester.
Elwood also was scheduled to play in a Class 2A championship game Monday at Sheridan. The host Falcons agreed to move the game to Westfield after heavy rain rendered their diamond unplayable, and the teams still were waiting for a window to get the game started late into the evening.
High school baseball wasn't the only level of the game affected by the weather.
Indiana's NCAA regional championship game against Stanford was delayed by rain with the Hoosiers leading 3-0 in the top of the third inning. Officials were hoping to get the game restarted, but no score was available in time for this edition.
