Alex and Michaela held serve again to take a one-game lead before pulling off another break and holding once again to move within a single game of winning the match.
Dru and her daughter cruised to an easy service game victory, winning every point of the next game, but the Hammel sisters finished them off just one game later, taking the second set 6-3 to move onto the finals.
In the only tournament the sisters get to play in together every year, they were excited to have come out and played so well. Playing very relaxed is their strong point, they said, and they managed to stay loose Saturday and cruise to within one match of the Women’s A Doubles title.
“It’s just really fun for me,” Alex said. “We laugh. We keep it light. We both know where the other one is coming from, and we’re able to encourage each other.”
