By Aleasha Sandley, Herald Bulletin Staff Writer
Name of business: Yoga Space
Opened: October 2008
Address: 5234 Ind. 67, Anderson
Employees: Co-owners Lisa Reeves and Carol Hanna. Reeves has been a certified Kripalu yoga teacher since 1995 and has been practicing yoga for longer. She also has been a massage therapist for 20 years. Hanna has been teaching yoga for two years and is certified from All People Yoga.
Hours: The yoga studio is open for classes 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Therapeutic massages and private yoga sessions are available by appointment by calling (765) 425-7707 or (765) 621-4830.
Services: Yoga classes cost $10 per class or $50 for six classes. The hour-and-15-minute classes include a gentle warm-up, classic yoga postures, relaxation and meditation. The studio has yoga mats, blankets and pillows available, and students are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing.
In the owner’s words: “We’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, to share the benefits of yoga,” said Reeves, who hopes eventually to add more teachers to the business. “It’s for balance, strength and flexibility to relax and unwind and recharge. It’s to experience the integration of the body and mind and spirit and to release energy blocks in the body for greater health and well-being to stimulate the body’s own natural healing system.”
