The Church Upon The Rock Missionary Baptist Church at 303 E. 29th St., Anderson, held a "Tom Thumb" Wedding on Sunday. The event, sponsored by the church's Junior Usher Board and held to honor Elizabeth Hampton and the Senior Usher Board, featured children acting out the parts of a wedding and is inspired by the real wedding of P.T. Barnum circus performer Charles Sherwood Stratton, who was under 3 feet tall and went by the name General Tom Thumb. Stratton married a woman of similar height in 1863 and the wedding was widely reported. This wedding inspired a fad in the 1920s in which "Tom Thumb" weddings were staged with children under 10 years old playing all the adult roles in the wedding and the wedding would usually be put on as a fundraiser.

Harry Dishom II played the groom and Cameo King played the bride. The minister played by Douglass Odom II led the couple in their vows that concluded with "I now pronounce you best friends. You may now shake hands."
